Our Distillery sits proudly on the treacherous coastal rocks of southern Islay where smugglers plied their illicit trade in centuries gone by.
Some travel to Ardbeg along the winding road from Port Ellen. Others follow their nose, their destiny, or the advice of a good friend.
Situated off Scotland’s West Coast, Islay is just 25 miles long. With its rocky bays and sheltered inlets, it is a wild and windswept island famed around the world for its peaty whiskies and a place of pilgrimage for the single malt whisky faithful. Islay is ideal for whisky distilling thanks to abundant soft water, fertile soil and acres of precious peat.
